Chapter: A Romantic Dinner with Jae

Ava was suspicious.

Jae had been acting weird all day—more secretive, smug, and annoyingly charming than usual. Section E had been dropping cryptic hints, with Kai dramatically sighing, “Ah, young love,” and Lily winking at her like she knew something Ava didn’t.

Something was up.

But she didn’t get the full picture until Jae showed up at her house that evening, dressed in a black button-up, sleeves rolled up just enough to make her heart stutter.

"Get dressed," he said casually, handing her a small bag.

Ava raised an eyebrow. "And what exactly am I dressing for?"

Jae smirked. "You'll see."

She opened the bag and found a stunning black dress inside.

Her stomach flipped. "Jae, what—"

"No questions. Just hurry up."

Ava huffed but quickly changed. When she stepped out, Jae’s eyes darkened with admiration.

"You’re staring," she teased.

"Can you blame me?" he echoed her words from the picnic, making her blush.

Fifteen minutes later, they arrived at a beautiful rooftop restaurant, fairy lights twinkling around them, the city skyline stretching far and wide. The view was breathtaking, but Jae was looking at her like she was the only thing that mattered.

"You really went all out," Ava said, sitting down at the candlelit table.

Jae smirked. "Only the best for my girl."

Her heart skipped a beat.

As they ate, Jae fed her bites of dessert, making sure to tease her every time she blushed.

"You like being spoiled, don’t you?" he mused.

Ava rolled her eyes. "Shut up and eat your cake."

Jae chuckled but reached across the table, taking her hand in his. His thumb gently traced circles on her skin.

Ava felt her breath hitch.

"Hey," Jae said softly, suddenly serious. "I know things have been crazy. The drama, the fights, the… near-death experiences."

Ava snorted. "You make it sound so romantic."

Jae smirked but then squeezed her hand. "I just wanted one night where it’s just us. No chaos. No interruptions. Just you and me."

Ava’s chest tightened. He was being so sincere.

"You’re such a softie," she teased.

Jae sighed. "And yet, I’m still in love with the most annoying woman on the planet."

Ava laughed, but the words hit her like a train.

"You… love me?"

Jae blinked. Then smirked. "Wow. Just realized now?"

Ava stared at him, heart racing.

"Say it again," she whispered.

Jae leaned closer, voice low and warm.

"I love you, Ava."

Ava swallowed, her whole world shifting.

Then she smirked. "Damn right you do."

Jae rolled his eyes but pulled her into a slow, lingering kiss.

The city sparkled around them.

And for the first time in forever, there was only peace.
