Chapter Thirty : One Month of Madness

A month had passed since Ava and Jae officially became a couple, and Section E had not shut up about it.

“Good morning, Mrs. Jae,” Kai greeted dramatically as Ava entered the classroom.

Ava rolled her eyes. “I swear to God, Kai.”

“Oh, my bad. I meant Mrs. Overprotective Mafia Boss Jae.

Jae, sitting with his legs propped on his desk, raised an eyebrow. “You’re asking for a black eye, Kai.”

Kai clutched his chest, pretending to be offended. “Wow. Is this how you treat your ex-lover?”

EX-LOVER?!” Jae and Ava said in unison.

Kai wiped a fake tear. “You used to glare at me all day, Jae. You used to fight me for Ava’s attention. And now? You don’t even threaten my existence anymore.”

Jae sighed. “Kai, shut up before I make you.”

Eli snorted from his seat. “Yeah, yeah, we get it. Ava’s officially off the market, and Jae is so whipped it’s embarrassing.”

Ava smirked. “He really is.”

Jae turned his head toward her, narrowing his eyes. “I wouldn’t push your luck, babe.”

Lily, sitting beside her, gasped dramatically. “Ooooh, ‘babe’!

“Man, Jae went from cold and heartless to full-on boyfriend mode in a month,” Minho said, shaking his head. “Unbelievable.”

Kai huffed. “I know, right? It’s sickening.”

Jae shrugged. “Not my fault she’s obsessed with me.”

Ava scoffed. “Excuse me? Who’s obsessed with who?”

“Oh, please,” Jae smirked. “You get all blushy every time I—”

Ava slapped a hand over his mouth. “Don’t.

The class erupted into chaos.

“Oh my god, SHE DOES.”

“AVA BLUSHES BECAUSE OF JAE?”

“I KNEW IT!”

Kai wiped away more fake tears. “Even Ava has fallen. What has the world come to?”

Jae pried Ava’s hand away, smirking. “You’re cute when you’re flustered.”

Ava groaned. “I hate you.”

“No, you don’t.”

“No, I don’t,” she admitted, making everyone lose it again.

“WEAK!” Lily screamed. “AVA IS WEAK FOR HIM!”

Jae leaned back in his chair, satisfied. “Told you.”

Eli crossed his arms, smirking at Ava. “You really let this man win, huh?”

Ava groaned, resting her forehead on her desk. “I regret everything.”

Kai patted her back. “Welcome to your suffering, sister. You’ll never know peace again.”

Jae just chuckled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “She loves it.”

And even though she rolled her eyes, she didn’t deny it.
