Chapter twenty-six : An unexpected kiss

The gymnasium buzzed with energy as Section E gathered for their physical education class. The coach had assigned a simple game of tag to warm up, and Ava, ever the troublemaker, had no intention of making it easy for anyone to catch her.

Jae, however, had other plans.

Ava darted across the court, her laughter echoing as she dodged yet another attempt from a classmate. Jae had been watching her for a while, his eyes locked on her every movement. He smirked, determination flickering in his gaze before he launched forward, cutting her off effortlessly.

She gasped as he spun her around, gripping her wrist. In that split second, she lost her balance, and before either of them could process what was happening, their lips crashed together.

The entire gym fell silent.

Ava’s eyes widened in shock, her heart slamming against her ribs. Jae, still holding onto her, pulled back slightly, his expression unreadable—until a slow, amused smirk curled on his lips.

“Well, that wasn’t planned,” he murmured, his voice laced with something dangerously teasing.

Ava shoved him back, her face turning a deep shade of red. “Jae! You—”

Before she could finish, a chorus of whistles and cheers erupted from their classmates.

“Oh my God!” Lily screeched. “DID WE JUST WITNESS A FIRST KISS?!”

“Jae, you move fast, huh?” Kai smirked, nudging him.

Minho folded his arms, shaking his head. “Husband and wife moment right there.”

“Husband and wife?” Ava sputtered. “Are you guys insane? That was an accident!”

Jae, on the other hand, was clearly enjoying every second of this. He leaned closer, a devilish glint in his eyes. “An accident, huh? Should we try again and make it intentional?”

Ava swatted at him, her blush deepening. “You’re impossible!”

The teasing continued, with Section E chanting ‘husband and wife’ at every opportunity, much to Ava’s dismay. Jae, of course, fully embraced the title, throwing winks and smug grins her way whenever he could.

And despite her endless protests, Ava couldn’t shake the way her lips still tingled from the unexpected kiss.
